If you cut out the military expenditures, we'd be paying waaaaaaay less.
Edit: On a side note, people should check out the book Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism. Many of the problems we're seeing across the world can be tied directly back to militarism and the economics and social ideation around it.

You may have some interest in the book titled Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism.

Interesting point. Yes, makes sense, definitely.
Edit: here's another similar post that people should read. putting it here for visibility
Edit2: In the interest of visibility and current events, while only tangentially related here, I'm moved to include a link to a book that people here may be interested in purchasing and reading: Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism

If there are any readers from that area or anyone interested in the machinations related to militarism, they should check out Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism.

I agree. Wtf.
For visibility I'm going to post this here. If one person reads the book Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism I'd consider this comment a success. The book talks about how militarism and, largely, capitalism has infected our cultures horrifically, being national and worldly security threats in and of themselves.

Thanks for the civil response and "lesson" of sorts. I'd like to read/listen to more about it.
I really have no doubt that the "military industrial complex" is duplicitous and treacherous, especially when it comes to getting "meat for the meat grinder" etc...
You may be interested in this book. I heartily recommend it. Pretty quick read and worth its weight in platinum.

For a resource on how to contest andor challenge militarism look for, purchase, share, talk about the fairly short, three essayed book Spectacle, Reality, Resistance: Confronting a Culture of Militarism by David Gee.
Mr. Gee is also the author of Holding Faith: Creating Peace in a Violent World

Although somewhat of a tangent, it's still relevant:
